If you haven’t got an EO stash and would like to get one, I’m happy to show you how.

ABOUT DILUTION

Each Young Living essential oil bottle has dilution recommendations printed right on the label. Some oils that are very gentle like Lavender and Copaiba don’t require dilution except for the most sensitive skin. Most oils will be diluted in equal parts with a carrier like V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex, but some are “hot” oils and can cause a tingling sensation if applied without a carrier. These include Thieves, Peppermint, Ginger, Cloves, and Oregano among others, and are usually diluted more.
Of course, you can always dilute more or less depending on your personal preference and on the amount of essential oils you use. Use about 1 drop of essential per 1 tsp of carrier oil.
Remember to do a sensitivity patch test on the inner skin of your forearm first. If you mix the essential oils in a 10ml rollerball bottle with a carrier oil, start with a 2% or 3% dilution of 6 to 9 drops of essential oil respectively. I recommend starting with fractionated coconut oil as a carrier oil. You’ll want to look for organic, hexane-free kind. I recommend the pura d’or brand.

WHERE TO APPLY YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS

The topical application of essential oils is a close second to inhalation. Many of essential oils listed below can help with specific things, and they can be either applied topically or inhaled via a diffuse, using the cupping technique, or smelled right out of the bottle. Inhalation works quite well for relieving emotional distress. Give one or more of the following essential oils a try, and see how they work for you.
One thing you might notice is how several of the same essential oils are recommended for different purposes. That is the nature of essential oils. Some have more than 300 chemical constituents, each constituent opening doors for the others to work synergistically making them and effective and versatile in their use.

  3. Make your own roller blends using your favorite oils, carrier and empty 10mL roller bottles. This way you can easily take them with you wherever you go.
  4. Keep pre-diluted blends on hand for all ages in your household.
  5. Pair topical use of your oils with diffusing and internal use, especially for acute needs.
